Notes and household wiki
Updated 2026-07-22 · 8 min read · By Ben Liu
Personal notes, a small wiki, and light tasks — documentation that survives phone swaps.
Separate personal from shared
Joplin (or similar) fits private daily notes with sync you control. BookStack shines for structured household or club docs with permissions. Affine CE appeals when you want canvas-style knowledge boards — try it only after notes backups exist.
Tasks stay optional
Vikunja is listed for light project/task tracking. If a shared checklist in the wiki already works, skip another database. Every extra service needs a restore drill.
Export formats matter
Confirm Markdown/HTML/export paths before migrating years of writing. Schedule a quarterly export even when sync feels healthy.
