Editorial policy

Who writes here

Guides, topic playbooks, collections, and operator notes are published by Ben Liu (Independent publisher & homelab operator) for Orivana (https://orivana.xyz). Content is written for operators: people who install, back up, and secure software — not for hype cycles.

What counts as original

Explanatory articles, checklists, comparisons, roundups, threat-model notes, migration playbooks, curated collections, and project editorial blocks (pros/cons, audience, FAQ, lab notes) are original editorial work. Short project names and links help readers reach official upstream documentation — we do not present upstream README text as our own long-form journalism.

Update cadence

Guides are reviewed when major tooling assumptions change (for example, a widely used install path). Catalog enrichment is regenerated when the source list is refreshed. Featured project notes are revisited when readers report material inaccuracies.

Corrections

Found an error? Email support@orivana.xyz with the URL, what is wrong, and a source. We correct factual mistakes and note significant updates on the relevant page when practical.

Advertising & sponsorship

When ads are enabled, they are labeled "Advertisement". Ads do not purchase rankings in our catalog, placement in editorial guides, or "Editor's picks". Affiliate relationships, if introduced later, will be disclosed on the pages where they appear.

Popularity signals

On-site "popularity" or star-like numbers may be estimated or derived for sorting experiments. They are not live official GitHub star counts. Always verify activity on the upstream repository.

Not professional advice

Content is educational. It is not legal, security, financial, or compliance advice. High-risk deployments need qualified review. See also our Disclaimer.
